Join MTBM for a weekend of camping and trail clearing July 22-23 in Thompson Falls, MT. There’s some unbelievable alpine and deep woods riding up there: many of the stunning background photos on this website were taken there.
We’re chipping in with the Plains Ranger District to get these neglected trails re-opened, and they’ll also be used for a supported alpine ride event in September similar to the Ninemile Trail Fondo of 2016. We’ll camp Friday and Saturday nights, cutting on Saturday and Sunday.
To run chainsaws on the Plains Ranger District, volunteers will need a current USFS saw certification (which we offered back in April), however, we can always use extra people to clear with handsaws and help swamp out the cut logs. 1 chainsaw and 1 handsaw per 2-person team is ideal.
We’ll arrange point-to-point shuttles to the starts, and volunteers will ride and cut (and push) their way out on Saturday and Sunday. We call it Lumberbiking. These are long, hard, but extremely rewarding days. You’ll need the fitness and experience to be out there for 6+ hours.
Event is listed on the Calendar.
