Since May 1 we’ve been hard at work on a new downhill-only MTB trail above Marshall Mt, and we’re happy to report it’s nearly finished! Please stay off the trail until we give the word- it’s not safe to ride yet, nor is the dirt ready for tires due to the extremely dry weather and construction timeline.
You, the volunteers, came out for weekend dig days and Trail Tuesdays. You brushed out Ravine trail and cleared Sheep Mountain. You wrangled what we’re pretty sure felt like 10 million kids at the Zootown Derailleurs. We are continually humbled and amazed by the riding community here in Missoula, and we kind of feel like it’s worth having a party.
So here’s the deal:
Saturday, August 5th – Mineral Peak Shuttle Ride
8:30am: Rattlesnake Main Trailhead – Come enjoy a free shuttle on one of the biggest alpine rides around. We’ll help out with the shuttle and stash some cold drinks along the way, but plan on a big ol’ day of riding with 7,500′ of climbing. Bring fresh brakepads. Full event details for that ride here: https://www.facebook.com/
Sunday, August 6th – Marshall Volunteer Thank-you DH Shuttles and World Cup on the Big Screen
8am-1pm: Marshall Mountain is open for business to the volunteers who helped build it! Come on out and ride the new trails from the base area. And because it’ll be too hot for pedaling much, we’ll be running free shuttles to the top all morning. Come break it in! Remember, until this date the trail is emphatically not open for riding.
2pm – close: Our friends at the The Thomas Meagher Bar are putting the Mont St Anne World Cup Downhill on the big screen and throwing a party. Come one come all. A portion of all food and drink sales come on back to MTB Missoula, so don’t shy away from the Scotch eggs and one more pint. You earned it.
